PetSmile Month is coming - September 2009

Postby Dudley Cripps on Thu Aug 06, 2009 7:13 pm

PetSmile Month is coming - September 2009 will see FREE Dental Check-Ups being provided at nearly 1,500 Veterinary Practices throughout the UK. Not only that but we will be distributing 250,000 Goody Bags to cat and dog owners. These will contain special offers and samples of Pedigree® DentaStix™ and Whiskas® DentaBits.™

A frighteningly high % of our pets are in urgent need of dental treatment. This means that they are walking around with infection and inflammation in their mouths. Not only is there infection in the mouth - but it can spread to affect the whole body. This is why vets around the country have combined together, donating their time to help tackle this problem.

Arranging a dental health check-up has never been easier - you will be able to simply enter your postcode and we will locate the nearest participating practice. You can call them to arrange for your FREE dental health check. Practices are now being contacted to take part and the search facility will soon be live.

Prevention of dental disease is better than treatment. Veterinary Dentistry is all about making pets healthier and happier and seeing the benefits that this brings to our pets and their relationships with their owners.

Don't know when the search facility will be working but theres more at http://www.petsmile.org/ :walkies:

I get sick of vets trying to sell me toothpaste and toothbrushes for my dogs!!! I am sick of explaining they dont need to have their teeth cleaned by me!! They get plenty of raw bones that does the job naturally!! My older girlie, nearly 7 now, has sparkling white clean teeth and gums and no nasty dog breath, as have all of mine. Its processed food that causes the problems!!

Ooooh nows theres a sensible lady! An excellent book to read to avoid the need for attention to teeth is Raw Meaty Bones by Tom Lonsdale this book provides an excellent insight to the dog food industry and how the Complete Diets contribute to peridontal disease and general ill health of dogs.
