We have 6 in-depth home study modules from the Middlesex University-accredited Cambridge Institute of Dog Behaviour & Training up for grabs:

  • Introduction to canine care & behaviour: this module provides all the general background information that someone interested in entering the dog-training and behaviour world will need as a foundation to work from. It contains dog psychology; dog training; canine behaviour observation skills; understanding human/canine theoretical and practically based relationships; and why dogs do what they do. Duration is maximum of one year (256 hours; normally completed in three to six months in seven phases).

  • The Rescue Dog Mind, Behaviour & Care Management: dog rescue is a critical and important part of the pet industry in Britain. Caring for animals that are unwanted and from different places, Sara Muncke is one of Britain's leading experts with over 30 years of full-time, hands-on, knowledge. She imparts her know-how via this course for the benefit of students and the dogs they will handle and care for in future. Includes topics such as breed-related issues; special needs care (pregnant bitches, puppies and elderly dogs); handling kennel stress; disease, infection and emergencies; assessing dogs and behaviour problems. Duration is maximum of 12 months.

  • The Pet Dog's Mind: essential knowledge for the owner: this course, written specifically for dog owners, provides you with a fascinating insight to your dog's mind, the psychology behind why your pet dog exhibits the behaviour that he displays, and the inherent drives that makes your dog what he is. This course covering subjects such as looking at how and understanding how dogs have developed to live alongside man; positive interaction between the species; social behaviour and communication; effective leadership; and how dogs learn. Duration is maximum of 12 months.

  • Pet Home Sitting & Dog Walking Certificate: looking after people's dogs can be most rewarding and is one of the fastest-growing occupations in Britain today. As laws change it is essential that you have a qualification that demonstrates your ability to care for clients' pets in a responsible way. This course covers dogs, cats and other small pets. It also has a section on dog walking which is the second part of a home sitter's duties in many cases. This is also the first part of the National Pet Sitting & Dog Walking Certificate. This course will show you how to begin a pet sitting business; legal responsibilities; dog handling; expectations of the typical family and their pets; insurance cover requirements; national laws that relate to dogs and much, much more. Duration is maximum of one year (75 hours).

    Wow what a wonderful prize!! :D I have to win one of these!! PLEASE! I have crossed my fingers.... and my toes, along with my arms and legs... I have even made Lily (2 year old Bichon Frise) cross her front legs... (can't cross her back legs as she only has 1 leg at the back!!....) "We" have everything crossed! Lets hope lady luck is on my side and I win one of these fantastic courses!!! :waiting: :dance:
